Barrhead County has released its 2025 Annual Report & Financial Statements, giving residents a detailed look at how the municipality performed over the past year. The document, now posted on the county website, shows the county ended the year with a $1.6 million surplus after factoring in about $1.84 million in government capital transfers. The operating budget ran a modest deficit of roughly $260,000, though expenses came in well under budget, especially in transportation and water/wastewater.
The audited financial statements, presented to council on April 7, 2026, reveal property tax revenue reached approximately $11.2 million, about $750,000 more than in 2024. Auditor Bradley Lussier of Greilach Lussier LLP gave the books a clean review, confirming the numbers were fairly presented in all material respects.
Cash and short-term investments climbed to $17.5 million by December 31, 2025, up from $14.6 million the year before. Total financial assets stood at $21.5 million. On the other side of the ledger, liabilities grew to $7.6 million, including $3.5 million in long-term debt tied to the 2016 Barrhead Regional Aquatics Centre debenture. The county’s accumulated surplus, a measure of overall financial health, rose to $76.2 million, up from $74.5 million.
The report also highlights progress on council priorities. Under the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, 81 per cent of tasks are either complete or on track, with only a small portion needing attention.
