The Village of Haines Junction has posted a notice that road resurfacing work is now underway, and residents should prepare for possible traffic delays and changes to local access. The notice, dated June 8, 2026, appears on the village’s local notices page, but does not list specific streets or a firm schedule.
The Village of Haines Junction says more details will be shared on its website as the project moves forward. Drivers are asked to watch for signs and flaggers, and to plan extra travel time while crews are active.
The current resurfacing follows a recently completed $10 million upgrade that replaced more than a kilometre of water and sewer pipes, and renewed over four kilometres of roads and alleys. That project was paid for with federal and territorial co-funding through the Green Infrastructure Stream.
Mayor Diane Strand and council have placed infrastructure modernization at the top of the 2025-2028 strategic priorities, as the community continues to grow. Yukon Bureau of Statistics figures show Haines Junction reached 1,069 residents in 2025.
