Families in Sherwood Park and across Strathcona County can start signing up for summer recreation programs beginning today, June 16, 2026. The registration covers a wide range of activities, from swimming lessons and adult wellness classes to visual arts programs and activities for children and youth. Residents can register online through Recreation Online or by calling 780-467-2211 for support.
The summer session runs from June 29 to August 28, 2026, and includes summer camps, outdoor pursuits, and culture programs. Most activities take place at Millennium Place, the county’s largest recreation centre, which offers an aquatics centre with a wave pool, twin ice surfaces, a gymnasium, and an indoor playground.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Emerald Hills Leisure Centre is closed for extended annual maintenance from March 17 through July 3, 2026. That means families looking for swimming lessons early in the summer will need to book them at Millennium Place or other available facilities.
For those who prefer to register in person, printed forms can be dropped off at most recreation centres, except Millennium Place, or at the county’s administration office at 2025 Oak Street in Sherwood Park. The registration opening comes as the county continues to earn high marks from residents. A 2025 public satisfaction survey showed that 93 per cent of people rate Strathcona County as a good or very good place to live, and 83 per cent are satisfied with county services.
