Winnipeg hosted the first-ever Urban Annual General Assembly for the Four Arrows Regional Health Authority (FARHA) on June 23, 2026. The organization thanked everyone who attended, marking a new chapter in how it connects with Island Lake members living in the city.
FARHA is governed by the four Island Lake First Nations, including St. Theresa Point, Garden Hill, Red Sucker Lake, and Wasagamack. Many members from these communities travel or move to Winnipeg for health care, and the health authority has a sub-office in the city to provide urban support.
“Thank you to all who came to our first Urban Annual General Assembly,” the organization said in a message posted June 23. The gathering is expected to lead to updated priorities and stronger community health programs for families in the city and back home.
FARHA runs a range of services including public health, home and community care, harm reduction, and foot care. In 2019, Neewin Health care Inc. became a regional program under the authority, tasked with building a primary health care facility and developing an urban support system for Island Lake residents relocating to Winnipeg.
St. Theresa Point recently elected Chief Elvin Flett, who took office in March 2026. As FARHA continues to expand its urban reach, leaders say feedback from assemblies like this one will help shape future health services for all four First Nations.
