The Tecumseh Farmers Market kicked off its 2026 season with a strong opener at Lacasse Park on Sunday, June 21, drawing what organizers call a record-breaking start for the market. Perfect weather, strong vendor demand, and robust community turnout made for a lively morning of shopping, according to the market’s official Instagram account.
Organized by the Town of Tecumseh’s Community & Recreation Services department with support from the Tecumseh BIA, the free market runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on the third Sunday of each month through October. The next market is set for July 19. Lacasse Park, at 590 Lacasse Blvd, offers 100 free parking spots and easy access for visitors.
The 2026 season has already seen vendor registration fill up quickly, with spots for June and July closed ahead of opening day. Organizers maintained the maximum vendor cap of 50 this year, reflecting the market’s rapid growth since it first launched in 2025. Last year’s inaugural season featured more than 40 vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, artisan crafts, candles, and handmade items.
On social media, residents praised the improved layout and wider vendor selection. The opening day Instagram post drew significant engagement, with followers expressing enthusiasm for the market and interest in additional dates. The account now has 2,451 followers. Vendor fees are $50 per date or $250 for the full five-market season, with a $5 power surcharge available for those who need it.
Beth Gignac, the town’s Director of Community and Recreation Services, said the market has been shaped by years of feedback from residents and local producers. “Every purchase made at the market directly supports small businesses in our town, strengthens our local economy, and helps build a more connected and resilient community,” Mayor Gary McNamara said during the market’s 2025 launch. The market continues to focus on homegrown and handmade goods, and multi-level marketing vendors are not accepted.
