The children’s pool at the Redcliff Aquatic Centre is closed for repairs as of Friday, June 26, and families with young swimmers may need to adjust their summer plans. The main 25-metre pool remains open, and town staff are working to keep disruptions to a minimum for those with lessons in the smaller pool.
According to the Town of Redcliff, staff are contacting families registered in affected programs, including Parent and Tot sessions, to sort out alternative arrangements where possible. The repair work does not affect the big pool, which is still available for public use and lap swimming.
A new July and August schedule for the Redcliff Aquatic Centre came into effect on Monday, June 29, right as the busiest stretch of the outdoor season gets underway. The facility at 230 Main Street South includes a heated 25-metre pool with depths from one to 3.6 metres, plus the heated children’s pool, which has a water play structure.
Free public swims will continue this summer thanks to backing from two local sponsors. The Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club is putting $3,000 a year toward the free sessions through 2027, which has covered Sunday afternoon swims from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. On Saturdays in August, free swims are supported by Redcliff Family Dental Centre, a clinic that has served the area for more than 30 years.
