Port Colborne is set to celebrate Canada Day on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with the return of the annual Canada Day in the Park event at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park. The free, family-friendly celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs all day, ending with a fireworks display along the canal around 10 p.m.
The day is organized by the Port Colborne Optimist Club and features a craft vendor fair, giant penny sale, live entertainment, kids’ rides, face painting, and a foam party. Food vendors will be on site, and opening ceremonies start at 1 p.m. with speeches, the singing of O Canada, and cupcakes from the City. The fireworks are subject to Seaway traffic.
The celebration is supported by funding from the Government of Canada’s Celebrate Canada Program. Residents should note that city facilities will operate on adjusted schedules. Port Colborne City Hall, Public Works, and the Port Colborne Public Library will be closed July 1. The Vale Health & Wellness Centre will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Roselawn Centre will be open from 1 to 3 p.m.
Canada Day in the Park has been a local tradition for decades, drawing thousands to the waterfront park overlooking Sugarloaf Harbour. Organizers remind everyone that the fireworks time depends on canal traffic, so patience is appreciated.
