The Yorkton Pride organizing committee has set the date for the 2026 Pride Parade. The event will take place on August 29 from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., celebrating love, diversity, and the freedom to be oneself in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
Community members and groups who want to take part with banners or floats must register by August 22. Registration can be done by emailing [email protected]. The volunteer-led committee encourages everyone to join in and show their support.
Yorkton Pride got its start with a small Walk in 2017, and events have grown steadily each year. The 2024 parade drew around a couple hundred people taking part and watching, according to organizer Margo Allaire. “Year-over-year we’ve just been continuing to grow and add more visibility,” Allaire said at the time. The event is one of seven rural pride celebrations supported by the Saskatchewan Pride Network.
The city has seen both progress and pushback in recent years. In 2019, a rainbow Pride crosswalk put Yorkton in the national spotlight in a positive way. More recently, a 2023 Drag Queen Story Time faced loud protesters, and in August 2025, a Yorkton family responded to hateful vandalism at their home by turning it into a call for pride and community support. The mayor and school principals reached out to stand with them.
The Pride Parade is the centrepiece of a week of programming that has included Paint Nights, Tie Dye events, ally workshops, and drag shows. This year’s parade invites all Yorkton residents to come together and celebrate the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
