Award-winning country trio The Washboard Union will headline a free outdoor concert during Coaldale Summer Fest in Coaldale, Alberta on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The Vancouver band, known for hits like their recent single “Somebody to Love,” takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. at the 1st Choice Savings & Credit Union Stage. The concert is part of the four-day festival running from August 6 to 9.
Festival-goers will find the stage on the south field at 2016 19 Street, near the old John Davidson School. The high-energy country performance promises to be the anchor event of a weekend filled with family activities.
The Coaldale Summer Fest lineup also includes a Candy Parade, fireworks, a Farmers’ Market grand opening on Thursday, August 6, and the Coaldale Custom Cruisers Show & Shine. A Ride for Dad concert fundraiser closes the festival on Sunday, August 9 on the same main stage.
The Washboard Union – made up of David Roberts, Aaron Grain (also known as Brett Ellis), and Chris Duncombe – won the JUNO Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year in 2019 and has taken home nine Canadian Country Music Association Awards, including three Group of the Year wins. Their latest album, “Westerly,” was released in July 2024.
The free concert is supported by 1st Choice Savings & Credit Union, Dennis’ Dirtworx, DIESELR, and 98.1 The Ranch. Residents still have time to help choose the outdoor movie for Movie in the Park. Voting for films such as Zootopia 2, Lilo & Stitch, and Inside Out 2 remains open until July 18.
