Residents in Tecumseh are facing another round of hot and humid weather this week, with Environment Canada issuing a yellow heat warning for the region starting Monday, July 13, 2026.
The warning covers the Windsor-Leamington-Essex County area and forecasts daytime highs between 30 C and 37 C. Overnight temperatures will only dip to 20 to 24 C, offering little relief. Tuesday, July 14 is expected to be the peak, with a forecast high of 37 C. When humidity is factored in, it could feel as hot as 45 C.
The Environment Canada forecast for Tuesday also calls for sunny skies and a very high UV index of 10, meaning skin protection is important for anyone spending time outdoors. Hot and humid air could also cause air quality to worsen, with the Air Quality Health Index possibly reaching high-risk levels.
This is the latest significant heat event of the summer for the area, following earlier waves in June and early July. A 30 percent chance of showers returns Wednesday, July 15, with temperatures cooling to around 32 C. The heat warning is expected to end by either Wednesday or Thursday evening.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reminding everyone that heat puts all residents at risk, especially older adults, infants, young children, and those with certain medical conditions. The health unit recommends checking on neighbours who may live alone several times a day during the hot spell.
