The Yorkton Terriers are hosting a community fundraiser on July 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Terry Ortynsky’s Royal Ford in Yorkton. The event, called Drive.Eat.Support, invites residents to take a free test drive, with Ford Canada donating $30 per drive to the hockey club. A BBQ lunch by donation will also be available.
This is the first opportunity for many fans to reconnect with the Terriers after a memorable 2025-26 season. The team reached the SJHL championship final for the first time since winning the national title in 2014, advancing through the playoffs before falling to the Flin Flon Bombers. Rookie forward Cash Lanigan earned SaskMilk Rookie of the Year honours with 48 points in 55 games, while defenceman Thomas Ries was named SuperU Defenceman of the Year and suited up for Team Canada West at the 2025 Junior A World Challenge.
Head coach and general manager Emery Olauson, whose contract was extended for four years in June 2024, said the event is a chance to say thank you to the fans who rallied to save the organization in early 2024. Financial trouble and low attendance nearly forced the Terriers to fold, but a community campaign with a season ticket blitz kept the team on the ice at the Westland Insurance Arena.
Royal Ford, a dealership that has served the Parkland region for over 35 years, has hosted similar community fundraisers in the past. The July 29 event runs for five hours and gives attendees a chance to meet Terriers players and staff while supporting the club’s off-season operations.
