Aurora residents will choose their next Mayor, six Ward Councillors, and School Board Trustees during the municipal election on Monday, October 26, 2026.
The Town has an interactive ward map at aurora.ca/Wards. Voters can use it to find their ward and see who is running in their area.
This is the second election under Aurora’s ward system, which divides the town into six neighbourhood areas. Each ward elects one councillor, and the Mayor is chosen by all voters town-wide.
As of July 22, 2026, three candidates are in the race for Mayor. Incumbent Tom Mrakas, who has held the office since 2018, is seeking a third term. Shawn Deane and Ward 5 Councillor John Gallo have also filed their nominations.
The nomination period closes on August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The Town Clerk will certify all candidates by August 24. Anyone interested in running for Council or School Board Trustee must submit their paperwork by the deadline.
Residents can vote online from October 16 to October 25, 2026. Advance in-person voting runs from October 17 to October 21. The new Council will be sworn in at an inaugural meeting on November 17, 2026.
