Morris, Manitoba residents will head to the polls on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, for the general municipal election. The Town of Morris recently posted key dates on its website, giving voters and anyone considering a run for council a clear timeline to follow.
The nomination period for mayor and councillor candidates runs September 16 through September 22, 2026. Before that, anyone wanting to run for mayor must register with the Senior Election Official between May 1 and September 20, 2026. Councillor candidates have a shorter registration window, from June 30 to September 20, 2026. Voters can cast their ballots early as well. Advance voting wraps up October 25, 2026. Unofficial results will be posted on election night, with official results certified the next day on October 29. To be eligible to vote, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old on election day, and have lived in Morris or owned or rented property in town for at least six months before election day.
This is a regular election under The Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Act, which puts municipal elections across Manitoba on the fourth Wednesday of October every four years. The current council, led by Mayor Scott Crick, has served since 2022 and includes councillors Chris Hamblin, David Funk, Mel Baxter, Taylor Braun, Tim Lewis, and Trevor Thiessen. Crick was first elected in 2018 and won re-election in 2022.
