Port Colborne residents can now flip through the latest August 2026 edition of City Hall News, the city’s monthly newsletter published July 28. The interactive digital magazine outlines what locals need to know about upcoming projects, community events, and important dates throughout the month.
The fresh edition arrives just in time for the 48th Annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival, running July 31 to August 3. With 150 vendors, nearly 200 volunteers, and a record 80-plus sponsors, the waterfront festival is expected to draw up to 70,000 visitors. The city has highlighted the community effort behind the event, which remains one of Ontario’s premier summer draws.
Council is also using the newsletter to draw attention to longer-term changes underway. A new official plan, which will guide growth, development, and environmental protection through 2056, is scheduled for completion this fall. Residents can also read about the four new FLO electric vehicle charging stations now operating at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park, Market Square, the municipal lot at 109 Main Street West, and the Vale Health and Wellness Centre.
Looking ahead to the October 2026 municipal election, the newsletter reminds voters that council is shrinking from eight councillors to six, with the city moving from a four-ward map to a three-ward structure approved by the province in May. The August issue replaces the July edition and joins an archive of past newsletters dating back to February 2023, all available on the city’s website.
