Red Shores has posted its upcoming race programs for both the Summerside and Charlottetown tracks, giving harness racing fans on Prince Edward Island a full slate of action heading into Old Home Week.
The Summerside Raceway will host its next card on Sunday, August 9, while the Charlottetown Driving Park runs on Saturday, August 8. Full programs and handicapping picks are now available on the Red Shores website.
These races follow the recent Governor’s Plate meet in Summerside. The 58th edition, held July 12 to 18, set a new record with $254,239 in single-card wagering on the final night, the largest handle in the track’s 150-year history. Get Wings, driven by Paul Langille, won the $50,000 final in 1:52.1.
The current racing period is a lead-up to Old Home Week, which runs August 14 to 22 at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The highlight is the 67th Gold Cup & Saucer, set for Saturday, August 22. The $100,000 final, presented by Atlantic Lottery, is Atlantic Canada’s premier harness racing event. Last year’s Gold Cup night drew more than 20,000 fans, part of a record-breaking season that saw total wagering exceed $10.2 million for the first time.
Orwell driver Marc Campbell has been named the featured driver at Red Shores for this period. Campbell has won the dash title at Charlottetown for 16 consecutive seasons and became the first Maritime driver to surpass $1 million in single-season earnings in 2025. He is a three-time Gold Cup & Saucer winner and a five-time Governor’s Plate champion.
