Two people are facing charges after Slave Lake RCMP and the Slave Lake Crime Reduction Unit arrested them while looking into a gunshot complaint on July 24, 2026.
Colton Gladue, 27, of Wabasca, and Joey Martin Bigstone, 33, from Slave Lake, were both charged with multiple counts of breaching court conditions. Gladue was also charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon after officers found him with a large axe, something he was not allowed to have under his court order.
The pair were taken before a justice of the peace and were remanded into custody. They were scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on July 29, 2026.
The Slave Lake Crime Reduction Unit, which was set up in September 2024, focuses on proactive policing and targeting repeat offenders who often cause a large share of local crime. The unit was involved in the July 24 arrests as part of that work.
Both Gladue and Bigstone have had recent brushes with the law. Gladue was in court in June 2026 for loitering or trespassing, while Bigstone was arrested in March 2026 for breaking curfew and having a prohibited hand tool.
