Strathcona County residents can explore eight local farms and rural attractions this weekend during the 14th annual Alberta Open Farm Days on August 15-16, 2026. The free event gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at agriculture in the Sherwood Park area, from fruit wineries and cattle operations to organic pierogi making and off-grid homesteading.
Barr Estate Winery, located at 51526 Range Road 231, will open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Visitors can tour the winery, meet farm animals including sheep, chickens, donkeys, and cows, browse the Barrtizan Market, and purchase wines made entirely from fruit grown on-site. Hahn Angus Meat Market at 22525 Township Road 514 opens its shop at 9 a.m., with tours and activities running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Highlights include brisket preparation and smoking demonstrations on Saturday, a carving tutorial on Sunday, cattle genetics discussions, and working dog demonstrations.
Lamberry Ranch, a family-owned farm at 51220 Range Road 213, offers self-guided orchard tours, Saskatoon berry picking, and the chance to see sheep and chickens. Vanilla ice cream with Saskatoon sauce is available for $3 per scoop. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pierogerie, located at 21333 Highway 14, offers free guided tours, children’s activities, and hot food including pierogi and cabbage rolls for about $15 per plate on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A ticketed Farm-to-Table Pierogi Making Class is set for Sunday.
Other participating locations include Bar OA Farms, which will be at Attracted 2 Apples on Saturday for guided orchard and flower tours, a market, and wood-fired pizza, and at Experience Alberta on Sunday for u-pick flowers, specialty coffee, and fresh-baked treats. Experience Alberta – Chicks N Chaps will feature presentations by local producers on apple growing, flower farming, grain production, and the story behind Fifendekel Pie Shop Cafes. Off Grid YEG offers tours of a first-generation homestead powered by solar energy, showcasing sustainable growing practices and crop rotation.
