Barrhead residents with overdue utility accounts have until Monday, August 17, 2026, to pay their balances or risk having their water service disconnected.
The Town of Barrhead issued a payment reminder stating that water utility disconnections are scheduled for that date for account holders with outstanding balances. This is the town’s regular practice, with shut-offs typically happening in the third week of each month.
Residents can pay through online or telephone banking, in person at the Town office at 5014 50 Avenue, or by using the night deposit box. Anyone with questions can contact the Utility Clerk at 780-674-3301.
If water service is disconnected, a $60 reconnection fee is required in addition to all outstanding charges and penalties. Accounts unpaid after the last day of the month following the billing month are also subject to a 2.5% penalty.
The Town of Barrhead recently increased utility rates by 3.3% for 2026, which means the average household using 14 cubic metres of water saw their bi-monthly bill rise by $5.41. The town no longer delivers door hanger notices, so residents should watch for letters, emails, or phone calls about their accounts.
