Selkirk residents can look forward to a stretch of sunshine and warm temperatures this week, with Environment Canada calling for mainly clear skies through Sunday.
Conditions as of Monday afternoon were partly cloudy with a temperature of 21.2 C at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. No weather alerts are in effect for the area.
Monday’s forecast brings a mix of sun and cloud, a 30 per cent chance of showers, and a risk of a thunderstorm. The high is expected to reach 23 C, feeling like 28 with the humidex, and a UV index of 6 or high means sunscreen is recommended for anyone spending time outdoors.
From Tuesday onward, the Environment Canada forecast shows a sunny outlook. Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 23 C, Wednesday sunny at 28 C, and Thursday sunny and the warmest day of the week at 29 C. Friday brings cloudier conditions with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 24 C. Saturday and Sunday are both expected to be sunny, with highs of 25 C and 26 C.
Overnight lows will range from 7 C to 14 C, with Saturday night expected to be the coolest at 7 C. The normal August high for Selkirk is 25 C, with a normal low of 11 C.
With mostly sunny days ahead, the UV index will be high Monday (6) and moderate Tuesday (5). Applying sunscreen, wearing a hat, and seeking shade during peak hours are recommended for outdoor plans like beach visits or gardening.
