Champagne and Aishihik First Nations is inviting young women who are taking part in their first hunt to register for a special camp this month in Haines Junction, Yukon. The camp runs August 30 to September 4, 2026, at 29 Mile Aishihik Road.
Only 10 spots are available for the camp, and registration is open to CAFN Citizens. Those interested can contact Jocelyn Kinney at [email protected] or Margaret Chiblow at [email protected] at the CAFN offices.
The camp offers participants a chance to learn from experienced hunters on the land. It is part of Champagne and Aishihik First Nations youth programming, which includes on-the-land activities such as camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking, along with Southern Tutchone language classes and cultural teachings.
The location at 29 Mile Aishihik Road is within CAFN traditional territory near Aishihik Lake. The First Nation has more than 1,200 citizens and is one of 14 Yukon First Nations.
Those wishing to take part in the camp should register soon, as space is limited.
