Residents of Canmore, Alberta can get their well-worn outdoor gear and clothing fixed for free at the second annual Share and Repair Fair on Friday, September 11, 2026. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elevation Place, located at 700 Railway Avenue.
The Town of Canmore is hosting the event. Local repair experts will be on hand to provide free advice, assessments, and simple fixes. Rocky Mountain Technical Care will handle outdoor apparel repairs, Kumpfy Shoes will work on footwear, Wilderness Rentals will focus on camping gear, and Stratton’s Jewellery will offer watch repairs and battery replacements. If a more complex repair is needed, the experts can take the item for off-site service.
Beyond repairs, the fair includes a clothing swap called the Swap-O-Rama. Residents can drop off clean, gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories at the Canmore Public Library between September 5 and 13. The swap is a free collaboration between the Canmore Public Library and the Homelessness Society of the Bow Valley.
The fair also promotes reducing waste in other ways. The Electronic Recycling Association will collect unwanted electronics, and the Bow Valley Food Alliance will offer tips on preserving herbs and reviving produce. Families can enjoy activities like worm composting and upcycling crafts.
The Share and Repair Fair supports Canmore’s goal of reducing solid waste by 40% per capita by 2030. The first Canmore event in May 2025 drew more than 200 people, and the concept was originally piloted in Banff in October 2024. The Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley is a key partner in organizing the fair.
