The Port Colborne Optimist Club is hosting its first-ever Golf Ball Drop fundraiser on September 1, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at the Whisky Run Golf Club on Lorraine Road. One thousand numbered golf balls will be released from a crane over seven target holes, with cash prizes for the balls landing closest to each hole.
Tickets are $20 per ball. The ball closest to Hole 1 wins $1,000, and the balls closest to the other six holes each win $500. The public is invited to watch or participate. Proceeds support the club’s community programs, including youth initiatives, book drives, and bike safety programs.
The Port Colborne Optimist Club has served the community since 1986. It is best known for the annual Canada Day celebration at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park, the Kids Fishing Derby, and the Duck Race during Canal Days.
