Sherwood Park residents are invited to help Volunteer Strathcona celebrate 50 years of community service on September 26, 2026. The free event runs from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Festival Place, located at 100 Festival Way.
Volunteer Strathcona has connected local people with volunteer opportunities since September 1976. The anniversary celebration will feature interactive stations hosted by local nonprofits, a complimentary ice cream sundae bar, refreshments, and prize giveaways.
The organization continues to play a key role in the community. In 2024, it engaged with 108 community organizations and delivered an estimated $353,000 in value through volunteer hours, equipment loans, and other support. Its LawnBusters and SnowBusters programs helped 51 low-income seniors and people with disabilities with lawn care and snow removal.
As part of the celebration, Volunteer Strathcona is holding a 50/50 raffle with a potential prize of up to $10,000. The draw takes place on September 26, 2026.
Youth ages 14 and older are also needed to volunteer at the event, helping with the photo booth and sundae bar. Anyone interested can contact Volunteer Strathcona for details.
