Residents of Tecumseh, Ontario, are facing a heat warning with temperatures expected to feel like 38°C and a risk of thunderstorms through Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Environment Canada issued a YELLOW WARNING – HEAT (Impact Level: Moderate) for the Windsor-Leamington-Essex County region, including Tecumseh, on Monday, August 31, 2026. The warning forecasts daytime highs between 30 and 32°C, overnight lows between 20 and 22°C, and humidex values near 38. The conditions are expected to last through Wednesday and possibly into Thursday.
The unsettled pattern also brings a risk of thunderstorms Monday evening and overnight. On Tuesday afternoon, there is a 60 percent chance of showers with a continued thunderstorm risk, and shower chances continue through mid-week. The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reminding residents to stay hydrated and check on vulnerable neighbours, especially older adults, infants, young children, and those with certain medical conditions.
The health unit issues heat warnings when two consecutive days are forecast to have daytime highs above 31°C and nighttime lows above 21°C, or a humidex greater than 42°C. While current humidex values are near 38, the combination of heat and humidity still poses a risk for heat-related illness.
Relief is expected by the weekend, with a mix of sun and cloud and highs dropping to 26-27°C by Saturday and Sunday.
