Garden Hill, Manitoba, enjoyed a partly sunny start to the week, but residents should brace for rain arriving Monday evening, according to Environment Canada and The Weather Network.
As of 4:00 PM CDT Monday, August 31, 2026, conditions were partly cloudy with a temperature of 20.7°C and a humidex of 26, observed at the Island Lake Airport weather station. Winds were from the east-southeast at 24 km/h, gusting to 33 km/h.
However, the forecast calls for showers to begin later tonight, with a risk of a thunderstorm and 5 to 10 mm of rain expected. The Weather Network reports a 90% chance of precipitation, with light rain in the evening transitioning to scattered showers overnight.
The wet weather is expected to linger through mid-week, with a 30% chance of showers on Tuesday and a high of 22°C. Thursday should bring a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 24°C, before another system moves in on Saturday with a 60% chance of showers.
Daytime highs for the week will range from 21°C to 25°C, which is well above the seasonal normal of 18°C for this time of year. Overnight lows will drop to between 10°C and 15°C, also above the normal minimum of 8°C.
Garden Hill is a remote fly-in First Nation community on Island Lake in northeastern Manitoba, about 475 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg. The community of roughly 3,054 residents is accessible primarily by air and winter ice roads.
