Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie has refreshed its job board with dozens of active postings, spanning nursing, diagnostics, and support services, with closing dates starting September 8, 2026.
New listings include a part-time registered practical nurse for the Geriatric Rehabilitation Unit, a part-time Laundry Washer, a part-time Office Assistant for Purchasing, a part-time Pharmacy Technician, a temporary part-time Reactivation Worker for the Geriatric Emergency Management Program, and a part-time Clinic Assistant for Renal Hemodialysis.
The careers page shows closing dates through early October 2026, making this a time-sensitive hiring push for the city’s largest hospital. The hospital employs approximately 1,850 staff, 370 physicians, and more than 500 volunteers.
This active recruitment comes amid ongoing staffing pressures across Ontario’s health-care system. Provincial data from earlier in 2026 noted more than 700 front-line nurse and health-care worker positions had been cut across the province since January 2025. Sault Area Hospital itself has faced vacancy challenges since at least 2022, when it reported over 200 open positions.
Current openings also include registered nurse and registered practical nurse roles in the Emergency Department. The hospital’s job board lists positions in areas such as the Algoma Regional Renal Program, which provides hemodialysis and other renal services to patients across the Algoma district.
