The Wildrose Rodeo Finals are back in Barrhead this month. The Barrhead Agricultural Society is hosting the event from September 17 to 20 at the Barrhead Agrena, located at 5607 47 Street.
Rodeo fans can catch five shows over the four days. Thursday and Friday performances start at 7 p.m. On Saturday, there are two shows, one at noon and another at 6 p.m. The finals wrap up on Sunday with a 1 p.m. performance.
Adult tickets are $20 each, or fans can buy a full event pass for $100. Youth ages 6 to 17 pay $10 per ticket or $50 for a full pass. Children aged five and under get in free.
The event is put on by the Barrhead Agricultural Society in partnership with the Wildrose Rodeo Association. The association is an amateur rodeo group with more than 600 members and hosts 30 to 40 events each year in central and northern Alberta.
Barrhead hosted the finals from 1989 to 2022, except for 2020 and 2021 when the pandemic cancelled the event. Rimbey hosted in 2023, but Barrhead won a three-year bid in February 2024 to bring the finals back starting that year.
The finals feature competitors who earned top 10 point totals in seven rodeo events, including bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, and ladies barrel racing.
