Coaldale, Alberta residents can look forward to a new community event this month. The Town of Coaldale has added the Coaldale Skate Fest to its calendar, taking place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Kinsmen Skatepark, located at 2310 22 Avenue.
The free event is open to all ages. From 3:00 to 3:30 p.m., Boarderline Skateshop will host free skateboard lessons. An all-ages skateboard jam with prizes starts at 3:00 p.m. Participants in the free lessons will be eligible for a skateboard giveaway. Free pizza will be available while supplies last, courtesy of the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Coaldale. Music throughout the event will be provided by DJ Archie with Applaud Entertainment.
The Skate Fest is hosted by Boarderline Skateshop and sponsored by several local organizations, including the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Coaldale, RDS, Red Dragon, ITB Truck Bodies Graffiti, DH Fencing, Malloy Landing, and Buster’s Pizza. The Kinsmen Skatepark, which opened on September 20, 2025, is a $1.2 million facility designed by New Line Skateparks Inc. It features concrete elements for skaters, scooters, and bikers of all ages and abilities. The project was funded through contributions from the Kinsmen Club of Coaldale, the Town of Coaldale, the Province of Alberta, the Kinette Club of Coaldale, and other community partners.
The Skate Fest reflects the town’s commitment to youth recreation and community building. Mayor Jack Van Rijn has said the skatepark represents years of collaboration and the community’s belief in quality recreation spaces that bring people together.
