Residents in Ajax, Ontario, will have an opportunity to speak directly with local law enforcement during a drop-in safety session taking place later this month. The Durham Regional Police Service West Division Community Response Team is hosting the event at the McLean Community Centre on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 5-7 p.m.

Officers will be stationed in the main lobby of the community centre, located at 95 Magill Drive, to answer questions regarding public safety in the area and across local recreation facilities. Attendees can also pick up educational resources on various safety topics during the two-hour session.

This event is part of ongoing efforts to foster collaboration between the police and the community. Local leaders, including Mayor Shaun Collier, have consistently encouraged partnerships between the town and the police service to address neighbourhood safety. These initiatives have included the development of an extensive local Neighbourhood Watch program and the introduction of CAMSafe, a voluntary registry that helps police identify security cameras that may assist in criminal investigations.

The upcoming meeting follows other recent community engagement efforts, such as a community meeting on homelessness held earlier this year. This drop-in session provides another way for residents to engage with the West Division, which serves Ajax and Pickering under the command of Superintendent Stefanie Finateri and Inspector David Palmer.
