Durham Regional Police Service announced on Dec. 12, 2025 that a nine‑month Gun & Gang Unit probe called Project Hydrogen produced 34 arrests, 139 criminal charges, 61 search warrants and major seizures across multiple cities — a development of local interest because five of those charged are listed as residents of Ajax.

The DRPS final charge list shows offences including firearms-related counts — such as possession of loaded or restricted firearms, possession of firearms obtained by crime and tampering with a firearm’s serial number — as well as Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences.

Police say the operation seized approximately 18 kg of cocaine, about 2 kg of fentanyl, 6 kg of methamphetamine, 1 kg of MDMA, roughly 3,000 hydromorphone pills, more than $200,000 in Canadian currency and 10 firearms. DRPS values the seized narcotics at more than $2.7 million on the street.

Project Hydrogen was a multi‑agency effort, with assistance from the Toronto Police Service, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other services. Det. Sgt. Brad Corner said investigators found activity that “stretched well beyond Durham Region, reaching as far as Northern Ontario and Winnipeg,” and that warrants and arrests took place in Toronto, Peel, York, Lindsay and Winnipeg among other locations.

All named people are charged — not convicted — and the matters will move through the courts in the coming weeks and months. The DRPS charge list identifies five Ajax residents — Trevor Bogdanow, Cairo Brown, Vaughn Roberts, Moreland McNeil and Trayvon Reid — among those charged.
