Drivers travelling between Altona, Manitoba, and Winnipeg are facing dangerous road conditions this weekend due to heavy fog and drifting snow as Environment Canada issued an advisory for the area through the morning of February 15, 2026.

Real-time reports from members of the Winnipeg And Surrounding Area Highway Conditions group show visibility dropping as low as 200 metres in some areas. These conditions are especially thick on Highway 75 and routes connecting Altona and Winkler to the city.

Near the Winnipeg Perimeter Highway, light snow has started drifting across the road, creating extra hazards for commuters. Because the fog is patchy, drivers may experience clear skies that suddenly turn into thick clouds within a few seconds.

Local delivery drivers and school bus operators are being advised to allow for significant extra travel time. Environment Canada warns that the dense fog can cause near-zero visibility, making it difficult to see other vehicles or the road ahead.
