The Town of Amherst, Nova Scotia, will open its municipal offices at noon today, February 24, 2026, following a winter storm. This delay follows early closures on Monday, when several town facilities shut down at 2 p.m. to ensure public safety during the heavy weather.

Impacted locations include Town Hall, the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Centre, and the Amherst Stadium. Residents who need to access in-person services or drop-off locations are asked to wait until the midday opening before travelling to these sites.

Essential services remain fully active, including the police and fire departments. The Public Works Department is also continuing to clear snow and maintain local roads throughout the storm.

Anyone needing emergency help with roads or waste during the storm can call the emergency dispatch line at 902-667-7227. While administrative offices are opening late, the Cumberland Joint Services Management Authority reminds residents that routine waste collection typically requires materials to be at the curb by 7 a.m.
