The Amherst Ramblers officially earned a spot in the upcoming Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs after a 5-3 win against the Truro Bearcats on February 16, 2026. The game took place in Amherst, Nova Scotia, and the result guarantees that the local club will play in the postseason tournament this year.

Forward Mark Corbett led the scoring with two goals, including a key shot during a third-period power play that put the team ahead. Goaltender Brandon Lavoie stopped 23 shots to help secure the win, while Anthony Gaudet scored into an empty net to end the game.

About 945 fans attended the game at Amherst Stadium, which was roughly 38 per cent of the building’s total capacity. This victory was particularly meaningful for the team because it happened during a game against their oldest rivals in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.

According to local reporting, the rivalry between these two teams is the oldest in the league. Now that a playoff spot is secured, the town expects to see more visitors at local restaurants and hotels on game nights as the postseason approaches.

Head coach and general manager Phil Fife has helped lead the team back to the playoffs after a period of rebuilding the roster. The club can now focus on their final regular games before starting the first round of the playoffs.
