The Town of Amherst will welcome 2026 with a New Year’s Eve celebration at Amherst Stadium on December 31, 2025, culminating in a fireworks display at 6:00 p.m. The festivities, announced in a Town of Amherst public notice, include a 2:00 p.m. ticketed hockey game and a 5:00 p.m. hot chocolate social.
The afternoon begins with the Amherst Jr. A Ramblers taking the ice at 2:00 p.m., according to the Town of Amherst public notice. Fans are asked to arrive early: the stadium parking lot will be closed to additional vehicles at 2:30 p.m., and all vehicles must exit the lot by 4:30 p.m. The free hot chocolate social will be held in the parking lot at 5:00 p.m., after which attendees must leave the lot by 5:40 p.m. to move to the designated viewing area on Church Street ahead of the fireworks.
Residents and visitors should note that street parking bans on Church, Wellington and Senator streets begin at 12:00 p.m. The town’s published timeline shows the lot closed to new vehicles at 2:30 p.m. and all vehicles removed by 4:30 p.m.; no on-street parking will be allowed near the stadium after noon.
At 5:00 p.m., Church Street between Wellington and Townshend streets will close to traffic. Spectators should move from the parking lot to the designated viewing area on Church Street by 5:40 p.m., ahead of the fireworks at 6:00 p.m.
This family-friendly event aligns with the town’s newly adopted Demographic Strategic Plan (approved Dec. 15, 2025), which the town says positions Amherst as a ‘vibrant, connected and family-friendly regional hub.’ The town also notes that police and fire services will operate as usual over the holidays to support public safety.
