The Town of Amherst, Nova Scotia, officially closed its outdoor skating rink for the 2025–2026 season on March 12, 2026. Unsafe ice conditions caused by recent rain and warm weather led to the decision to end skating operations early.
The rink is located in the downtown area at the corner of Maple and Victoria Streets. Town officials noted that the ice surface had deteriorated significantly due to the rise in temperature, making it no longer suitable for the public to use.
Public works crews arrived at the site shortly after the announcement to begin the process of closing the facility for the year. The town thanked local families and skaters for their support and participation throughout the winter season.
