The Amherstburg Art Crawl will return to the downtown core in Amherstburg, Ontario, on July 11 and July 12, 2026. This weekend event features pop-up studios, live art demonstrations, and street displays to highlight local talent. The festival is part of the town’s Open Air Weekends, which close certain streets to cars to encourage residents and visitors to spend time at local businesses.
The event is organized by the Art Amherstburg Society in partnership with the Gibson Gallery and local businesses. The walk is expected to begin at Art Alley behind the River Bookshop and conclude at the Gibson Gallery, which is located in a historic 1896 railway station. Hotel STRY on Murray Street will serve as the official headquarters for the festival.
As a non-profit organization, the Art Amherstburg Society reinvests all money raised from the crawl back into the community. These funds go toward permanent public art projects, such as the murals and sculptures seen throughout the downtown area. In 2024, the crawl was recognized as Ontario’s Best New Festival following its first full-scale run.
The 2026 edition will include an expanded program with interactive lessons and the unveiling of new murals. These activities are designed to provide cultural programming for families while helping local artists sell their work and gain exposure. By bringing art directly to the sidewalks, the event helps turn the historic district into a vibrant outdoor gallery.
