The Town of Amherstburg, Ontario, has released its 2026 waste collection calendar to help residents track upcoming changes to garbage, recycling, and organic waste services. The new schedule covers February 2026 through January 2027 and is being delivered to local mailboxes this month.
Residents should note that the recycling program is now managed by Circular Materials. Since January 1, 2026, households have used a single blue cart for all recyclables instead of sorting paper and containers into separate red and blue boxes.
A major addition to the schedule is the start of the regional green bin program for food and organic waste. Curbside pickup for organics is set to begin on November 6, 2026, and will occur every week during the months included in the new calendar.
The calendar includes dates for regular garbage and yard waste, along with adjustments for holiday collection dates. Digital versions are also available through the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority for those who prefer to view the information online.
