The Town of Antigonish and the Municipality of the County of Antigonish announced on February 25, 2026, that they are providing free access to an online booking hub for local non-profit recreation groups and community facilities in Nova Scotia. This new partnership gives volunteer-led clubs a no-cost tool to manage their programs and makes it easier for residents to find and join local activities in one central place.

The digital platform, called PlayFinder, includes features for program registration, payment processing, and booking spaces at community buildings. This tool was developed in Nova Scotia and evolved from an earlier project known as Sport Hub to provide small organizations with the same technology used by larger cities.

Local governments are covering the costs of the service to reduce the amount of paperwork and office work for community volunteers. Organizations that sign up for the platform will receive personalized training and support from the municipalities to help them set up their online accounts.

Town Councillor Juanita Pelly said the initiative is meant to support the volunteers who act as the backbone of the community by removing barriers to their work. Marlene Melanson, the Recreation Director for the County, added that the goal is to create a simple way for everyone in the region to see and participate in local activities.
