The Arnprior Town Council officially adopted its 2026 municipal budget on February 2, 2026, which includes a 3% property tax increase for residents in Arnprior, Ontario. The increase is projected to generate $390,000 in new revenue to help the town cover rising operational costs and fund several local construction projects.
Council earmarked the new funding for projects including the Madawaska Boulevard pathway and ongoing upgrades to the Nick Smith Centre. According to the Town of Arnprior’s Asset Management Plan (June 2025), these investments are necessary to keep the town’s buildings and roads in good repair as the community continues to grow. The budget also accounts for higher insurance premiums, utility costs, and fuel for maintenance vehicles.
Mayor Lisa McGee introduced the initial budget proposal using Strong Mayor powers, which were expanded to the Town of Arnprior effective May 1, 2025. McGee said the plan seeks to balance the financial needs of the town with inflationary pressures facing local families. This year’s 3% increase follows a 3.25% hike in 2025 and a 2.5% increase in 2024.
In addition to the pathway project, the 2026 budget provides funding for a new skate park. Town officials say these investments are essential as Arnprior continues to be one of the fastest-growing communities in the Ottawa Valley. The final budget was passed during a regular council meeting at Town Hall after several weeks of public consultation.
