Families in Aurora, Ontario, can celebrate local history and winter activities during Heritage Week events starting this February at Aurora Town Square. The week of programming kicks off on Family Day, Monday, February 16, 2026, and offers a mix of indoor workshops and outdoor fun designed to bring the community together at the recently completed Aurora Town Square, now entering its second full year as the town’s cultural hub.

The Aurora Museum & Archives is hosting hands-on history sessions where residents can learn how to handle old documents and photos like a professional archivist. Arctic Adventure includes ice carving and skating; Aurora Town Square has a refrigerated rink that is used for some event days, while the Family Day main activities are often held at Aurora Town Park. Aurora Town Square will also host guest presentations and performing-arts programs throughout Heritage Week. These events are part of province-wide Heritage Week, organized by the Ontario Heritage Trust to highlight local identity.

Most outdoor activities are open for anyone to drop in, but the town is asking residents to register early for indoor workshops because sessions are typically capped at about 20–25 participants. Interested participants can sign up through the Town of Aurora website or at the Aurora Town Square box office. The Square’s infrastructure supports all‑weather programming, and if conditions become extreme (for example, below −20°C) or heavy snow is forecast, outdoor performers and games will be moved inside to the Great Hall.

Organizers expect a large turnout and recommend that visitors look for extra parking at the nearby GO Station or the multi-level deck at the Joint Operations Centre if the main lot at 50 Victoria Street is full. The events aim to help residents connect with the past while enjoying the second full year of the town’s completed downtown gathering space.
