Aurora, Ontario, residents who take the bus to Toronto are seeing major changes at the Finch terminal this week. Platforms 1 through 12 at the Finch GO Bus Terminal have been closed until further notice for emergency repairs on a hydro tower. The York Region Transit bus service announced the closures on March 2, 2026, to allow for the urgent work.
While these specific platforms are closed, all bus routes will continue to serve the terminal as usual. Passengers are being moved to temporary boarding spots and are encouraged to look for signs or ask staff to find where their bus is parked. These changes are expected to cause some confusion and delays during the busy morning and afternoon travel times.
The emergency repairs follow a collision that happened at the terminal on February 24, 2026. During that incident, a regional bus struck a person and a hydro pole near the intersection of Yonge Street and Bishop Avenue. The Toronto Police Service was called to the area at approximately 8:16 a.m. to investigate the accident.
The hydro tower being repaired is owned by Hydro One and is part of the power corridor where the bus terminal sits. This facility is a major link for commuters from Aurora who use the regional bus to reach the Toronto subway system. Previous work at the terminal has also required buses to move to different spots to keep riders safe.
Metrolinx, which owns and operates the terminal, is working with utility crews to finish the repairs as quickly as possible. Commuters should check for real-time updates before they leave home and plan for extra travel time until the platforms are reopened. There is currently no set date for when the regular platforms will be back in service.
