Southlake Regional Health Centre, which serves Aurora, Ontario, was named one of the World’s Best Hospitals for the eighth year in a row on February 25, 2026. The international ranking from Newsweek and Statista placed the facility at number 25 among all hospitals in Canada.
This recognition also marks the fifth consecutive year the hospital has been ranked as one of the top three community hospitals in Ontario. The list is based on feedback from over 80,000 medical professionals and data regarding patient safety, hygiene, and overall experience.
For local residents, Southlake Regional Health Centre is the main site for specialized services like advanced heart and cancer treatments. Staying on this global list helps the hospital attract specialist doctors and supports fundraising efforts through the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation.
Hospital CEO Paul Woods said the facility plans to build on this success with a new 10-year project. The goal is to move more hospital-grade services directly into the community so that patients can get the care they need closer to home.
