The Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation announced on January 22, 2026, that registration is now open for its largest annual fundraiser, the Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake — a five-kilometre run and walk that raises money for Southlake Regional Health Centre, the regional hospital serving Aurora, Ontario.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, and follows a route through Newmarket that travels directly in front of Southlake Regional Health Centre and under the iconic Southlake bridge along Davis Drive. This community tradition helps pay for essential medical equipment and technology — such as diagnostic imaging scanners and emergency department upgrades — that provincial funding typically does not fully cover.

Organizers have set a fundraising goal of $500,000 for 2026. In 2025 the event drew about 1,650 runners and walkers and raised roughly $460,000; the 2024 event raised about $450,000 with roughly 1,350 participants. Funds from the run are used to buy new technology and replacement equipment that clinicians need to care for patients across the region.

Residents can join the fundraiser by signing up as individuals or by starting a team with friends and coworkers to collect donations. Municipal sources and the event organizers advise that the race typically affects Davis Drive on the morning of the event and that local transit routes are temporarily redirected.

Because the provincial government typically does not fund the full cost of most new or replacement hospital equipment, community fundraising like this annual run is a key part of keeping the facility up to date. Anyone interested in participating or donating can find more details through the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation’s event page.
