Drivers in Aurora should prepare for a temporary overnight road closure on Victoria Street late this week as the town continues its ongoing infrastructure maintenance work. The stretch of Victoria Street south of Mosley Street will be closed to all traffic starting at 11 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2026, and is expected to reopen by 1 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
The Town of Aurora has confirmed this closure is part of its wider effort to maintain and improve local infrastructure. The town’s Engineering Services division, which manages the town’s roads, bridges, sidewalks, and streetlights, is overseeing these projects as part of a significant multi-year investment plan.
The 2026 budget for Aurora includes $67.8 million specifically for infrastructure projects, fitting into a larger 10-year, $372 million capital plan aimed at improving the town’s community spaces and long-term sustainability. These improvements are supported by provincial funding, including a $2,283,134 investment delivered in 2025 through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund.
Residents should also be aware of other upcoming infrastructure work in the area. York Region has scheduled road preservation work on Yonge Street, from north of Orchard Heights Boulevard to north of St. John‘s Sideroad, which is set to begin later in 2026.
