York Regional Police is hosting a free child car seat inspection clinic in Aurora on September 3, 2026. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Central York ‘Ian Laing’ Fire Station 4-5, located at 300 Earl Stewart Drive.
Parents and caregivers can have their child safety seats checked by trained technicians. The clinic offers five one-hour appointments, with up to four vehicles per session. A $25 deposit is required at registration, but it is refunded when you attend.
Motor vehicle collisions are the leading cause of death for Canadian children, according to the Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada. A 2024 roadside study of more than 1,000 children found that 84% of car seats and booster seats had at least one misuse, even though 97% of kids were buckled in some way. A properly used car seat can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71%.
