Banff Centre is hosting a one-night screening called “International Mountain Day: Film Screening” on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. in the Max Bell Auditorium at Banff Centre. The program is a curated trio of award-winning films from the 2025 Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival: Echo of Turns; Le Moulin des Artistes — A Home for Free Spirits; and Run Again. Tickets are available through the Banff Centre event page (Get Tickets) and are listed at $15 for general admission (ages 14+).

The program includes Echo of Turns (Japan). Le Moulin des Artistes — A Home for Free Spirits won Best Film: Snow Sports at the 2025 Banff Mountain Film Competition, and Run Again received a Special Jury Mention in 2025. The festival winners page includes jury commentary highlighting Le Moulin des Artistes’ portrayal of art and community as sustaining people through difficult times, and describes Run Again as a test of endurance and a journey of self-rediscovery.

According to the Banff Centre event page, the screening is intended to mark International Mountain Day and “celebrate mountain culture” by showing audience favourites and award winners from the festival. The event listing also notes that International Mountain Day, designated by the United Nations in 2003, “raises global awareness of the vital role mountains play in sustaining life on Earth.”

Tickets can be bought via the event page’s Get Tickets link. The listing shows general admission priced at $15 and an age restriction of 14 and over; local residents who prefer to phone can reach the Banff Centre main switchboard at 403‑762‑6100. CKUA’s events page also lists the screening and repeats the program details, providing a secondary local confirmation for readers in the Bow Valley.

This single-evening screening is tied to the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival’s broader programming and World Tour. The festival began in 1976 and, according to Banff Centre, its World Tour reaches more than 45 countries on seven continents; curating single-night programs and touring selected films after the main festival is consistent with that model.

For Banff residents and visitors, the screening offers a chance to see a compact, award-focused program without attending the full festival. The films on the bill explore mountain life, creative communities and endurance in harsh conditions — themes that align with International Mountain Day’s focus on mountain ecosystems and cultures.
