Banff is in for a stretch of mostly sunny, mild weather this week, according to Environment Canada. After a cool start with early-morning temperatures around 9°C, the forecast calls for daytime highs climbing into the mid-20s through Wednesday.
On Monday, residents and visitors can expect a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 24°C, followed by mainly sunny skies Tuesday at 24°C and full sun on Wednesday with a high of 26°C. Overnight lows through the period will dip to between 6°C and 10°C, so anyone planning evening activities should bring a layer.
Thursday brings a 30 percent chance of showers and a high of 23°C before the sun returns Friday with 26°C. The weekend outlook calls for a 30 percent chance of showers Saturday with a high of 25°C, and a 60 percent chance Sunday with a cooler high of 20°C. For comparison, Banff’s normal August high is 21°C.
No weather alerts are currently in effect for Banff National Park. The settled conditions arrive during peak hiking season, which typically runs from July through mid-September. Visitors heading to higher elevations such as Lake Louise should note that temperatures cool quickly after sunset, with nightly lows there averaging around 4°C.
Parks Canada reminds everyone that a fire ban remains in place across Banff National Park. The ban, in effect since July 30 due to elevated fire danger, prohibits open fires and other activities that could spark a blaze. Free admission and 25 percent off camping through the Parks Canada Canada Strong Pass continues until September 7, 2026, making this an opportune time for outdoor plans.
