The Town of Banff has posted its 2026 Council and Committee Calendar on the Town of Banff’s Agenda Centre, giving residents specific dates for regular Town Council and Governance & Finance Committee meetings.
The schedule fixes meeting dates for the Town’s budget cycle — including the Service Review sessions held in late November and the budget finalization meeting in January — and notes that Service Review meetings take place at Banff Town Hall (110 Bear Street) and are live-streamed. Property assessment notices are typically mailed in January (see the Town’s Property Assessments page), and the annual tax rate bylaw is normally presented to council in early April when the mill rate is set.
Banff faced a projected double-digit tax increase in early drafts of the 2025 budget before council reduced the municipal tax increase to 5.6%. Council cited inflationary pressures and other budgetary factors; the Town also publicly raised concerns about an unexpected increase in the provincial education tax requisition, which increases overall property tax bills.
The early release of the 2026 calendar gives property owners and businesses time to register to speak, submit written input, or attend Service Review meetings — the line-by-line public process where each town service and its budget implications are debated.
The calendar is published on the Town’s Agenda Centre. Residents can review the detailed Service Review schedule and participation guidance on the Town’s Service Review page.
