The Banff Alpine Racers has announced the return of the Crazy Canuck Challenge to help fund the next generation of Olympic skiers in Banff, Alberta. On April 17, 2026, corporate teams will compete at Mt. Norquay alongside legendary Canadian racers. This event pairs local businesses with professional athletes to support youth development in competitive skiing.
Each four-person team will be paired with a ski legend who acts as a coach and racing partner. The teams will compete in a side-by-side giant slalom format on the mountain’s Cascade venue. Registration is open until April 10, 2026, and the event is limited to a maximum of 16 teams.
The entry fee for a team is $2,000, which includes lift tickets, meals, and an après-ski reception after the races. Businesses may pay a reduced fee of $1,000 if they provide an eligible provincial sport donation for a tax receipt through the SPAR Donation Fund Program. All money raised supports the athlete development fund for Alberta Alpine, helping young skiers reach the World Cup and Olympic levels.
The race serves as the start of the Rob Bosinger Memorial Weekend, which runs through April 19, 2026. This weekend of events celebrates the life of a former local coach and World Cup racer while raising money for youth scholarships. Since its founding in 1978, the local ski club has helped many athletes move from community programs to international success.
