According to the snowfall warning, the region expected total accumulations between 15 and 25 cm. The heaviest snow fell over the higher terrain, which significantly reduced visibility for tour operators and commuters traveling through the mountain corridor.
Parks Canada, which manages the national park, monitors this scenic route because its high altitude makes it prone to rapid weather changes. Travelers were encouraged to allow for extra travel time and to stay alert for potential hazards on the highway throughout the weekend.
By March 9, 2026, all official weather alerts for the area were lifted as conditions stabilized. Although the warnings have ended, authorities remind drivers that mountain weather remains unpredictable and requires constant vigilance during the winter and spring months.
